A mild heatwave is currently affecting nine districts across the country, including Dhaka, and is expected to persist. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has indicated the possibility of a low-pressure system forming over the Bay of Bengal within the next 48 hours.
In the latest weather bulletin issued at 9 am on Monday, the Met Office reported that an extension of a low-pressure area stretches across West Bengal and its adjoining regions. The seasonal low-pressure zone remains positioned over the southern Bay of Bengal. Conditions are favorable for the development of a new low-pressure system in that area within the next two days.
The forecast also mentions the possibility of temporary gusty winds, lightning, or thunderstorms in isolated areas of Rajshahi and Chattogram divisions by 9 am Tuesday. Elsewhere, the weather is expected to remain mostly dry with partly cloudy skies.
The heatwave currently impacts Dhaka, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Moulvibazar, Rangamati, Feni, Jashore, and Chuadanga. It is likely to continue over the coming days. Day and night temperatures across the rest of the country are expected to remain nearly unchanged.
