
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued Special Weather Bulletin No. 8 concerning Cyclone 'Montha'.
In the special bulletin released on Tuesday morning (October 28), it was stated that Cyclone 'Montha', located over the west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal, has moved further north-northwestward and is currently situated in the same area.
As of midnight Monday, it was positioned:
'Montha' is likely to continue moving north-northwestwards and intensify into a Severe Cyclonic Storm. It is expected to cross the Andhra Pradesh coast of India by tonight (Tuesday evening or night).
Within 54 km of the cyclone center, the maximum sustained wind speed is 62 km per hour, which is increasing to 88 km per hour in gusts or squalls. The sea near the cyclone center remains very rough.
Consequently, the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to display Distant Warning Signal No. 2.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice. They have also been strictly warned not to venture into the deep sea.
