Language is not only the symble of the existence and identity of a nation. To protect mother tongue, Salam, Barkat, Rafiq, Shafiq and Jabbar poured fresh blood on 21st February in 1952 to protect the rights of the mother tongue.
The homage to the language martyrs began with placing of flowers at the Central Shaheed Minar in the early hours of 21st February. The program starts from Prabhat Feri in the morning to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the rights of Bangla language. Language martyrs are remembered with respect in various events throughout the day.
Shaheed Minar is decorated with artists with a spectrum of colours, the surrounding on both sides of the road have also been painted with paintbrush scratches.

When mobile internet service to be launched
State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that the mobile internet service will be launched next Sunday or Monday.
He said this in the main conference room of BTRC building in Agargaon on Wednesday (July 24) at 4 pm.
On the general issues related to internet services, the state minister said that broadband connectivity will be increased from tonight. Broadband will be launched on an experimental basis in homes across the country from tonight. Which we will monitor till tomorrow.
He said, next Sunday or Monday, mobile internet service may be launched across the country. Recently we have been facing a daily loss of Tk 70-80 crores. Apart from this, Facebook and YouTube do not obey the laws of Bangladesh in any way. They don't even follow their own policies.
He also said that Facebook is an American company. They obey the laws of that country's government to the letter, but not the policies of our country. If we want to make money using our cyber space, we have to run Facebook in social media according to the laws of the country. They (Facebook) think about their own business but do not think about the people of Bangladesh.
The state minister said that we will support domestic entrepreneurs if they create social media apps as an alternative to Facebook, TikTok and YouTube.
Education Minister says about opening of educational institutions
Education Minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury (Nowfel) said that after the District Administrators are informed about the environmental conditions of their respective areas, a decision will be taken after reviewing it to open educational institutions.
He said this in the capital on Wednesday (July 24).

He said, we cannot open educational institutions until 100% security is ensured. Student safety is our top priority right now. However, the government's main priority is to complete the ongoing HSC examination.
Meanwhile, government primary schools have been declared closed indefinitely from Wednesday. This information was revealed by Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin, public relations officer of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.
Incidentally, due to the government job quota reform movement, on July 16, all public and private universities, including schools, colleges, madrasas and polytechnics, were declared closed for an indefinite period across the country.
At the same time, medical colleges, textile, engineering and other educational institutions affiliated with the university were declared closed. All the colleges affiliated to the National University will remain closed until further instructions.
Assault-fire / 1,200 crores loss of three companies
It is estimated that at least Tk 1,200 crores have been lost of three companies due to the attack and arson of miscreants surrounding the quota movement.
Miscreants set fire to the Directorate of Disaster Management on July 18. Their 53 cars and 13 motorcycles were burnt to ashes. There was extensive damage inside and outside the building. According to the authorities, at least Tk 400 crores of damage was done to the disaster management building in this terrible rampage.
On the same day, miscreants vandalized and set fire to the office of National Television (BTV) in Rampura of the capital. After that, BTV stopped broadcasting. BTV's archives and various departments were damaged in this. At least Tk 400 crores have been lost in the fire.
Apart from this, Banani's Setu bhaban was attacked and set on fire. At this time, 55 cars were burnt. The first floor to the third floor of the building was completely burnt. The entire 14-storey building was turned into ashes.
Bangladesh Bridge Authority Chief Engineer Kazi Md. Ferdaus said that, in total, the loss of the bridge department in this fire may be around Tk 400 crore.
Not only these three organizations, but miscreants have carried out terrible rampages around the quota movement. The miscreants set fire to the toll plaza of the capital's Mayor Mohammad Hanif flyover, toll plazas of the Banani and Mohakhali elevated expressway, the metro rail station, the data center at Mohakhali, the police outpost, traffic boxes and many vehicles.
At least 159 cases have been registered in different police stations of the country including the capital in connection with this terrible violence across the country. Various police units including RAB-DB are conducting operations to arrest those involved. So far 2 thousand 747 people have been arrested.
Four more exams of ongoing HSC postponed
In view of the situation arising out of violent activities around the quota reform movement in the capital and across the country, considering the safety of the students, four more examinations of the ongoing HSC have been postponed. The exams were scheduled to be held on July 28, 29, 31 and August 1. Including this, 8 exams of the ongoing HSC have been postponed.
This information was confirmed on Thursday (July 25) afternoon by the President of Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and Chairman of Dhaka Education Board Prof. Tapan Kumar Sarkar.
He said that this decision has been taken considering the safety of the examinees in the prevailing situation of the country.
Earlier, after July 18, the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee postponed the HSC examination on July 21, 23 and 25.
In this regard, Tapan Kumar Sarkar informed that these exams will be held after August 11. However, no specific schedule has been fixed.
Railways to refund money for 6-day train tickets
Bangladesh Railway has suspended train services due to the safety of passengers during the quota reform movement. In this situation, the company is refunding the money to those who have bought tickets in advance.
Responsible sources of Dhaka Divisional Commercial Department of Bangladesh Railway confirmed the matter to the media on Thursday night.
However, train movement has been stopped across the country since the July 19. According to the decision, the train ticket money is being refunded to the passengers from that day to the 24th July. Those who purchased from online, they are being refunded online and those who bought from the counter, the money is being refunded against the ticket through the counter. During this period, the ticket money of the inter-country trains that have stopped running is being refunded from the counter of the interstate.
On Thursday (July 25) at noon, the Railway Minister Zillul Hakim said also said that tickets have to be refunded as the train is not running. This is the biggest loss. So far, more than Tk 16.29 crore has been refunded to the passengers. Apart from this, the total loss of the railway in the eastern and western regions was Tk 22 crore 3 lakh 8 thousand.
Instructions regarding Saturday curfew
Curfew is in force in Dhaka, Gazipur, Narsingdi and Narayanganj. However, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said it has been relaxed from 8 am to 5 pm. He said these things in a press conference at Dhanmondi residence on Thursday (July 25). He said that the curfew will be relaxed from 8 am to 5 pm on Friday and Saturday.
Asaduzzaman Khan also revealed the operation of the law and order forces will continue until all those involved in sabotage are arrested.
Apart from these four districts, whether there will be a curfew in other districts, the district administrators will decide based on the situation.
Earlier, after the curfew continued for five consecutive days, the curfew was relaxed for 7 hours in some districts of Dhaka and surrounding districts on Wednesday (July 24). Curfew was relaxed from 10 am to 5 pm in Dhaka, Gazipur, Narayanganj and Narsingdi.
On Tuesday (July 23), the Ministry of Home Affairs informed that the decision to relax the curfew will be in force on Wednesday and Thursday (July 24 and 25) from 10 am to 5 pm.
Meanwhile, government and private offices opened after three consecutive days of general holidays. But not full time, office timings were 11 am to 3 pm. The traffic pressure in the capital was heavy as offices and courts opened with a break for a few days.
Decision on opening primary schools today
Due to the situation arising around the quota reform movement, the government announced the closure of all government primary schools for an indefinite period. Officials of Primary and Mass Education Ministry will hold a meeting on Sunday (July 28) regarding when the primary schools will open.
Farid Ahmed, Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, gave this information on Saturday (27 July) afternoon.
He said that efforts are underway to open government primary schools within this week. A meeting will be held on Sunday (July 28) to take a final decision on when the school will open.
Earlier on Wednesday, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin said, considering the safety of the students, the primary school has been closed for an indefinite period. Schools will remain closed until further notice.
Earlier, the Ministry of Education announced the closure of all secondary and higher secondary level educational institutions (schools, colleges, madrasas and technical institutes) and polytechnic institutes under the Ministry of Education until further orders.
