Due to the situation arising out of the quota reform movement, University of Dhaka has been closed for an indefinite period from Wednesday (July 17) due to the ongoing clashes between the students and the Chhatra League in the ongoing quota reform movement. Students have been directed to vacate the hall by 6 pm today.

Professor Dr Sitesh Chandra Bachar, Pro Vice-Chancellor (academic) of the institution confirmed the matter on Wednesday (July 17).

The highest policy-making forum syndicate of Dhaka University (DU) sat in an emergency meeting under the protection of BGB at around 10 am on Wednesday. The meeting started at University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal's office. At that time, a large number of BGB members were seen standing in front of his office. However, the syndicate members could not come to any decision even after a long meeting of one and a half hours. Later they met again at the residence of the vice-chancellor at around 12 noon. These decisions have been taken from there. Several members who were present at the meeting confirmed this.
