Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan resigns
Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan has resigned, said Advisor on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs of the Interim Government Professor Asif Nazrul.
He revealed this information in a video message from his verified page on Saturday (August 10) on social media Facebook.
Asif Nazrul said the Chief Justice has resigned. His resignation has reached the Law Ministry. We will forward it to the President without delay for due process. I expect this process to be completed within a few hours. You all stay calm. Don't waste resources of your own country.
Earlier, the full court meeting was scheduled to be held virtually at 10:30 am today as directed by the Chief Justice. It was reported that the full court meeting was closed at 10:30 am.
Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement and advisor to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, gave a status on his Facebook page about the full court meeting. He demanded the unconditional resignation of the Chief Justice and the closure of full court meetings.
In that post, Asif Mahmud said, we want the resignation of seven judges of the Appellate Division, including the Chief Justice appointed by the fascist Hasina.
