Home Secretary Abdul Momen Resigns, Set to be ACC Chairman
Mohammad Abdul Momen, senior secretary to the Public Security Division and the Security Services Division of Bangladesh's Ministry of Home Affairs, has resigned.
He submitted his resignation letter to the Ministry of Public Administration on Monday (December 09).
His resignation was confirmed by a home ministry official today (December 10).
According to sources in the Ministry of Public Administration, the recently resigned Mohammad Abdul Momen is likely to become the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). That's why he stepped down from his position as Senior Secretary of the Public Security Division.
Earlier on 17 August, the Ministry of Public Administration promoted Abdul Momen to the position of Senior Secretary and appointed him to the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs on a contractual basis. He assumed the role on 18 August.
Notably, since the changes in administration after August 5, Dr. Momen has been among the top officials in focus. He was specifically selected for the responsibility of the Public Security Division. Others appointed to significant positions include Cabinet Secretary Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid, Principal Secretary to the Chief Advisor M Siraj Uddin Mia, and Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Md. Mokhlesur Rahman.
Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen joined the BCS Administration cadre (special) in 1982. He has also served as the Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka.
