Murder case filed against 21 including Hasina, Rehana, Joy, Putul

21 people including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, daughter Saima Wazed Putul and sister Sheikh Rehana have been charged in connection with the shooting death of Farid Sheikh, the fruit seller in Jatrabari of the capital during the procession of students in quota reform movement.

On Tuesday (August 20), Farid's father Shakil Ahmed appealed to Sultan Sheikh's Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate court.

The court accepted the statement of the plaintiff and directed the Police Bureau of Investigation to investigate the complaint and submit the report by October 1.

The other accused in the case are Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Hasan Mahmud, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, Mohammad Ali Arafat, Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, Syed Nurul Islam, Harun-or-Rashid, Biplab Kumar, Habibur Rahman, Hasanul Haq Inu, Rashed Khan Menon, Amir Hossain Amu, Saddam Hossain, Abul Hasan.

Apart from this, 250 unidentified people have been accused.

It is mentioned in the complaint that Farid Sheikh was going to his fruit shop on the south side of the toll plaza of Jatrabari flyover at 3:30 pm during the violent movement of the students on August 4.

At that time, he was seriously injured by the police and fell down on the street. The bullet hit the right side of Farid Sheikh's stomach and exited through the left side. Later, people took Farid to Mugda Medical College Hospital for treatment. After that, he died in the hospital on August 6 while undergoing treatment.
