Death toll rises to 54, about 5.5 million afected

54 people, including 7 children, have died so far in 11 districts due to ongoing floods in the country. About 5.5 million people have been affected.

The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief announced this information in a circular on Friday (August 30).

Among the dead, 14 from Cumilla, 19 from Feni, six from Chattogram, one from Khagrachari, eight from Noakhali, one from Brahmanbaria, one from Lakshmipur, three from Cox's Bazar and one from Moulvibazar.

According to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, 41 men, six women and seven children were killed in the flood among 54. Their death is due to drowning, snake bite and electrocution.

10 lakh 9 thousand 522 families are trapped in water due to flood. 54 lakh 64 thousand 167 people were affected. 4 lakh 68 thousand 687 people and 38 thousand 192 cattle have been sheltered in 3 thousand 269 shelters.
