Ganabhaban to be Symbol of Dictator's Fall: Nahid
Adviser on Information, Broadcasting, Postal, and Telecommunication Md. Nahid Islam announced plans to convert Ganabhaban into a museum to commemorate the end of dictatorship in Bangladesh. He mentioned that discussions on the next Prime Minister’s residence will take place later.
Islam shared this with reporters following his visit to Ganabhaban on Saturday, September 7.
"We want to showcase the tragic fall of a dictator and a fascist statesman to the world," he said, adding that the government has decided to turn the iconic public building into a memorial museum.
He also mentioned that the visit was preliminary and included consultations with officials from the public works and architecture departments. A formal committee for the project is expected to be formed by tomorrow.
