Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain remarked that border killings remain a significant obstacle to fostering strong relations between India and Bangladesh. He made this statement in response to journalists' questions during a briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday (September 9).

Hossain emphasized that the recurring border killings are hindering the improvement of bilateral ties between the two nations.

This comes in the wake of recent tragic incidents, including the death of 15-year-old Jayant Kumar Singh, who was shot by the BSF at the Baliadangi border in Thakurgaon on Monday. Jayant's father, Mahadev Singh, and another individual were injured in the incident. Earlier, on September 1, a girl named Swarna Das was killed at the Lalarchak border in Moulvibazar's Juri Upazila.

Following these events, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a strong protest to the Indian government on September 5. Bangladesh has long raised concerns with India regarding the ongoing border violence, yet the killings persist.
