Police Seek 7-Day Remand for Ex-Minister Farhad Hossain
Police sought a seven-day remand to interrogate former public administration minister Farhad Hossain who was arrested in a case filed over the killing of a garments worker Rubel during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Abdul Malek, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Adabar Thana also the investigation officer of the case filed the remand application on Sunday (September 15).
Earlier, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested former public administration minister Farhad Hossain in Dhaka's Eskaton area on the night of Saturday, September 14, and handed him over to Adabor police.
Rubel's father Rafikul Islam filed a case in this connection against 148 people including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with Adabar Thana on August 22. Farhad Hossain is one of the accused in this case.
In the case statement, the appellant alleged that some of the accused directly or indirectly took part in the attack on hundreds of students, including Rubel, who were protesting at Ring Road in the Adabor area on August 5.
Incidentally, Farhad Hossain became a full minister in the 12th parliament. He was a Member of Parliament for three consecutive times from the Meherpur-1 constituency.
