Five Public Universities Get New VCs in a Day
The Ministry of Education has appointed new vice-chancellors (VCs) for five public universities in Bangladesh.
The appointments were announced on Sunday (October 27) through separate notifications from the Secondary and Higher Education Division. The notifications were signed with the approval of the President by Deputy Secretary Md. Shahinur Islam and Senior Assistant Secretary A.S.M. Kashem.
The universities with new vice-chancellors are:
- Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET)
- Rabindra University, Sirajganj
- Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX)
- Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University, Pirojpur
- Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Gazipur
Prof. Dr. S.M. Abdur Razzak has been appointed as the VC of RUET. He is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the same university.
Prof. Dr. Md. Zulhas Uddin has become the VC of BUTEX. He is the head of the Wet Process Engineering Department at the university.
Prof. Dr. Suman Kanti Barua has been appointed as the VC of Rabindra University. He is a professor in the Pali and Buddhist Studies Department at the University of Dhaka.
Prof. Dr. G.K.M. Mustafizur Rahman is the new VC of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University. He is a professor of Soil Science at the university.
Prof. Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam has been appointed as the VC of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University. He is a professor in the Mathematics Department at the University of Dhaka.
These new vice-chancellors will serve for a term of four years.
