Shop Rent 2 Lakhs, Govt Gets 7-8 Thousands: Sports Advisor
There are several shops under Mirpur Sher-E-Bangla and Bangabandhu National Stadium. The government of the country gets the rent money. However, during the tenure of the Awami League government, there have been various irregularities regarding the rent of these shops, said Asif Mahmud, the youth and sports advisor of the interim government.
On Sunday (November 17), he held a press conference with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Labor and Employment on the activities of the interim government in the last 100 days.
Asif Mahmud said that a new committee will be formed to stop the irregularities in the shops under the stadiums. According to the recommendations of the committee, the sports ministry will redistribute the shops.
Asif said that a committee has been formed for the shops of Stadium Market. They will be redistributed in consultation. The government gets a very nominal rent for the shops we have in our stadiums. But actually, four to five contracts have been made in one store.
Regarding the rent of the shop, he said, it is seen that the government gets 7-8 thousand due to changing hands repeatedly, but the actual rent is close to 2 lakh. We made a committee to bring changes in those places. I have come to know that the proposal of that committee will be submitted. We will take a procedural decision based on the proposal.
