Democracy Delayed, Progress Denied – Tarique Rahman
Tarique Rahman, the Acting Chairman of the BNP, took to his X account today to highlight the urgency of holding democratic elections in Bangladesh.
"The longer democratic elections are delayed, the deeper the cracks in the systems shaped by the Awami League for its benefit grow," he stated.
Rahman emphasized that systemic issues—spanning crumbling public healthcare, a faltering education system, the struggles of farmers and businesses, and political bias in the judiciary and civil service—continue to hinder the nation’s progress.
He further asserted that only a government elected by the people, through free and fair elections, can begin the journey of rebuilding a more equitable and prosperous Bangladesh.
Such a government, he stressed, must prioritize public service and foster governance rooted in equality, inclusivity, and collective development.
