Our Intentions Sincere, Elections After Significant Reforms: CEC
Newly appointed Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Md Nasir Uddin said, "Our intentions are true. We want to give the nation a free, fair, and transparent election. And we will do whatever is necessary for a free and fair election."
He made this comment in response to the journalist's questions after taking the oath on Sunday (November 24) afternoon.
At that time, the CEC said, "We can face any kind of challenge. Earlier, while serving as the Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Energy, we have faced various challenges."
Earlier, the remaining four Election Commissioners (EC) including the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of the newly formed Election Commission took the oath this afternoon. Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed administered the oath at the Judges' Lounge of the Supreme Court.
On Thursday, former Secretary AMM Nasir Uddin was appointed as the Chief Election Commissioner. Along with him, the names of the four Election Commissioners were also announced.
The four Election Commissioners are: former additional secretary Anwarul Islam Sarker, retired district and sessions judge Abdur Rahmanel Masud, former joint secretary Tahmida Ahmed, and Brigadier General (retd) Abul Fazal Mohammad Sanaullah.
They were appointed by President Md Sahabuddin under Article 118(1) of the Constitution.
