No More Unfair Compromises With India: Hasnat Abdullah
There will be no unfair compromise with India, said Hasnat Abdullah, coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement.
He stated this in a status on social media Facebook around 10 pm on Monday (December 02).
Hasnat wrote that in the last fifty years, Bangladesh has tried to establish relations with India through compromise, surrender, and knee-jerk discussions. But the results have been disappointing in most cases—betrayal, exploitation, and neglect of our sovereign rights.
He wrote, that now is the time for a new perspective. In the coming days, Bangladesh will establish relations with India on the basis of equality, with firm conviction and clarity. There will be no more unfair compromises. We will firmly defend and demand what is rightfully ours.
He also wrote Bangladesh does not want to stand in India's shadow, but as a confident and capable partner or, if necessary, as a strong competitor. Our sovereignty and interests are irreplaceable, and we are ready to take necessary steps to protect them.
