Dhaka City College will remain closed on Wednesday and Thursday to prevent further clashes and unrest, the college's acting principal, FM Mobarak Hossain, announced on Tuesday (April 22) at 3:24 pm.
He urged students to avoid any involvement in conflict and to let law enforcement handle the situation. "We've reported the infrastructural damages to the authorities, and they will ensure compensation," he stated. To maintain peace and prevent further violence, the college will stay closed for the next two days. He also called on students to remain calm.
Earlier in the day, around 11:45 am, a clash broke out between students of two colleges. By 1 pm, police intervened and dispersed the students. At 2 pm, students from Dhaka College approached City College from the direction of the Teachers' Training College and began throwing bricks and stones. Police responded by using sound grenades to disperse the crowd.
