Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul has dismissed any possibility of delaying the forthcoming National Parliament Election, emphatically stating that there is "no issue of postponing the election."
The adviser also added that the government is determined "to create a festive environment" around the high-stakes national polls.
“There is no issue of postponing the election. The national parliamentary election will certainly take place. Everything necessary will be done to create a festive environment,” he told the media after a meeting with judges at the Legal Aid Office of the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court building in Rajshahi on Sunday.
"The political parties often make statements to put pressure on each other or on the advisers, and while some of these claims may have truth, they tend to create public concern over the election," he added.
"People have not experienced elections for 16–17 years, so some apprehension exists. Five million citizens have never voted before, which makes this election particularly significant for them. The general public is eagerly waiting for the election, and there is growing enthusiasm among them," he further said.
Earlier, Adviser Asif visited the Mohila Karigori Proshikkhan Kendra (Women Technical Training Centre) in Rajshahi to observe its teaching, learning and other academic activities on Saturday.
During the visit, Dr Nazrul toured various academic sections and programs of the centre and exchanged views with students and teachers.
