
Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has taken swift action following the assault on Sharif Osman Hadi, the rospective independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency in the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election 2026 and spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho.
The Adviser on Saturday ordered the immediate launch of the second phase of 'Operation Devil Hunt' and directed authorities to strengthen the operation specifically to apprehend 'fascist Awami League (AL) terrorists'.
In addition, he also announced a cash reward of BDT 50 lakh for anyone who provides information leading to the arrest of the attackers involved in the assault on Hadi.
"We have decided to begin phase two of Operation Devil Hunt. The operation must be further strengthened to effectively contain the fascist terrorists," he said while briefing journalists after a Core Committee meeting on law and order at the Home Ministry in the Bangladesh Secretariat on this day.
"We are offering a cash reward of BDT 50 lakh for information that helps bring the attackers of Osman Hadi to justice," he added.
He said those involved in the attack would be brought under the law promptly and no one would be spared. He termed the incident an attempt to obstruct the national election.
"We have already instructed law enforcement agencies to bring the culprits to justice. No one involved in the attack will be spared," he added, noting that the government has attached topmost priority to the case and urged the public to cooperate fully.
The Adviser also said security would be ensured for frontline July warriors, adding that a committee has been formed in this regard and the committee will determine how security will be provided.
"The Interim Government is fully committed to ensuring the security of the forefront July Warriors. Special security arrangements are being taken for them by the government," he said.
