The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has confirmed that nine Bangladeshi peacekeepers were injured during a drone assault by separatist groups in Sudan.
The attack targeted a UN mission camp in the Abyei area.
Although eight injuries were documented immediately following the incident, a ninth soldier was later confirmed to have been wounded.
The ISPR further said that the injured personnel are receiving treatment at Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya. One of them has already been discharged while the remaining peacekeepers are reported to be out of danger.
The bodies of six Bangladeshi peacekeepers, tragically killed in the December 13 drone strike on the Kadugli logistics base, are scheduled to be repatriated to Dhaka on December 20.
According to an ISPR press release issued last Wednesday, the fallen soldiers will receive full state honors during their funeral rites.
The Bangladesh Army remains in a state of high alert, closely monitoring the situation to safeguard the welfare of all personnel currently deployed with the UN mission in Sudan.
