The Bangladesh Embassy in Nepal hosted 'Meet and Greet with the Ambassador' event on Saturday, bringing together a large group of Nepali medical practitioners who completed their education in Bangladesh.

The gathering served as a preparatory step toward establishing a formal alumni association to foster professional collaboration and strengthen bilateral ties.

The event was graced by the Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal, Md Shafiqur Rahman, who interacted with approximately 80 doctors ranging from veterans who graduated in the 1970s to recent graduates from the class of 2025.

In the welcome remarks, the Ambassador highlighted the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and Nepal, rooted in shared history, culture, education, and people-to-people contact.

Recalling the significant contribution of medical professionals in Nepali society and economy, he underlined the need for an alumni community creating a bridge between the two nations, noting its full potential remains largely untapped.

In this context, he dubbed the event as a preparatory step toward the formation of the proposed alumni association, which could serve as a platform for interaction, networking, communication and collaboration, thus strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Around 80 doctors-practitioners, ranging from 1970s graduate to 2025 graduates, attended the meeting, recalling academic, professional, and cultural experiences and memories.

The participating doctors shared their academic and professional experiences from their time in Bangladesh, expressing a deep emotional connection to the country.

They also provided constructive suggestions on the structure and goals of the proposed alumni association, emphasizing its role in knowledge sharing and clinical cooperation.

The evening concluded with a dinner featuring traditional Bangladeshi cuisine.

The Embassy reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the formation of the alumni network and promised to continue facilitating academic cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
