The interim government officially decided to seek a United Nations-led investigation into the assassination of Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam confirmed the move on Thursday night, stating that the government will formally propose that the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) conduct an independent probe into the case at the earliest opportunity.

During a press briefing, Shafiqul Alam emphasized that the administration is fully committed to ensuring absolute justice for the killing of Sharif Osman Hadi.

He noted that the government intends to provide all necessary cooperation to international investigators to ensure a transparent and thorough process.

“The government has already decided to propose that the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights undertake an investigation into the case at the earliest opportunity,” the press secretary said.

“The interim government remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring full justice in this case and will extend all possible cooperation to such an investigation,” he added.

This decision follows growing calls for an impartial inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the high-profile assassination.

The Press Secretary reiterated that the interim government remains steadfast in its pursuit of accountability and will work closely with the UN to facilitate the investigation’s commencement as soon as possible.
