15 cargo ships carrying nearly 250,000 tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG), fuel oil, and essential industrial raw materials have arrived at Chattogram Port.

Port authorities confirmed on Saturday that the vessels successfully navigated the Strait of Hormuz before the recent escalation of tensions in the Middle East, ensuring the safe delivery of critical resources.

Unloading operations are currently in full swing for the fleet, which departed from various Middle Eastern hubs, including Qatar’s Ras Laffan Port.

The shipment includes four tankers carrying approximately 247,000 tonnes of LNG destined for power plants and industrial sectors.

Additionally, the arrivals include LPG for domestic and commercial use, furnace oil for electricity generation and diesel to support the manufacturing sector.

Beyond energy, the vessels are offloading petrochemicals and raw materials vital to the country’s plastic, chemical, and garment industries.

Chattogram Port Authority Secretary Syed Refaet Hamim noted that high-profile tankers such as the "Lusail" and "Al Galael" are among the fleet now docked.

Officials emphasized that the timely passage of these ships through the strategic Strait of Hormuz has provided much-needed relief to the country's import stability.

Meanwhile, industry representatives, including Md. Nurul Alam of Uni Global Business Limited, indicated that the momentum is set to continue with four additional ships expected to reach the port in the coming days.
