A delegation from the European Union (EU) Election Observation Mission, led by Mission Head Roger Clayton, paid a formal courtesy call to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir at the Police Headquarters in Dhaka on Monday.

During the meeting, the EU delegation expressed high appreciation for the dedication and coordinated efforts of the Bangladesh Police in maintaining law and order throughout the recent electoral process.

Roger Clayton specifically highlighted the effectiveness of the police’s strategic initiatives, including specialized electoral training, the integration of body-worn cameras for officers, and the implementation of a comprehensive 'pocket book' detailing security responsibilities.

In recognition of these efforts, Clayton presented a certificate of appreciation to IGP Md. Ali Hossain Fakir, acknowledging the force's pivotal role in ensuring a secure and stable environment for the democratic process.

The IGP thanked the delegation, noting that the presence and role of international observers during the election were highly valued.

He highlighted that the Bangladesh Police had prioritized the safety and security of all foreign observers and international journalists throughout the period.

Senior police officials were present during the discussion, where both sides expressed a shared commitment to strengthening mutual cooperation and continuing professional exchange programs in the future.
