The government has officially lifted the fuel rationing system, directing filling stations across the country to resume normal operations effective from today (Sunday).

Under the new directive, fuel will be supplied and sold according to customer demand without restrictions until further notice.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Aninda Islam Amit, announced the decision during a press conference at the Secretariat this morning.

While the move signals a return to stability, the Minister issued a stern warning against market manipulation. "Strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to stockpile fuel by taking advantage of the situation," he cautioned.

The state minister explained that the rationing measures were previously implemented to manage supply disruptions triggered by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

However, the supply outlook has improved significantly. “Several imported oil-carrying vessels have already reached Chattogram Port,” Amit confirmed.

The decision to restore unrestricted sales was also influenced by seasonal demand.

The government prioritized lifting the restrictions to facilitate smooth travel during the upcoming Eid holidays and to support farmers who require a steady supply of fuel for irrigation during the peak Boro cultivation season.

This policy shift is expected to provide immediate relief to transporters, travelers, and the agricultural community, easing concerns over fuel shortages during these critical periods.
