Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman has called for strengthened global unity to eliminate racism and uphold human dignity, reaffirming Bangladesh’s steadfast commitment to combating racial discrimination in all its forms.

Addressing a commemorative meeting of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Monday (local time), the Foreign Minister emphasized that the global community remains far from achieving the goals set out in the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action.

According to a message received here this morning, Dr. Khalilur Rahman highlighted the persistence of racial injustices worldwide, specifically citing the ongoing crises in Rakhine and Gaza as urgent reminders of the need for international action.

He further drew attention to the systemic challenges faced by migrant workers, including exclusion, exploitation, and limited access to justice—issues he argued undermine the core values of the United Nations.

Reiterating Bangladesh’s constitutional dedication to equality and human rights, the Foreign Minister noted the country's status as a signatory to all relevant international conventions against racism.

He called for greater global investment in education, decisive action against hate speech, and enhanced intercultural dialogue.

Dr. Khalilur Rahman concluded by urging the international community to promote inclusivity and peaceful coexistence to build a world fundamentally free from racial discrimination.
