The country returns to its regular administrative and economic rhythm on Tuesday as government offices, banks, and insurance institutions reopen following a seven-day hiatus for Eid-ul-Fitr.

After the week-long closure, which began on March 17, official activities have resumed with standard operating hours from 9 am to 5 pm.

The capital city is witnessing a massive influx of professionals and civil servants returning from their ancestral homes.

Major transport hubs, including railway stations, bus terminals, and river ports, reported significant passenger pressure throughout the final hours of the break as people scrambled to reach Dhaka in time for the reopening.

This year’s Eid-ul-Fitr, celebrated on March 21 with traditional religious solemnity, saw an extended holiday period that lasted until March 23.

The newspaper industry, which observed a five-day break starting March 19 as per the Newspaper Owners’ Association of Bangladesh (NOAB), also concludes its holiday today, marking the full restoration of the country's media and financial sectors.
