Bangladesh Conveys PM’s Solidarity to UAE amid Rising Regional Tensions

Bangladesh has formally conveyed a message of "firm solidarity" to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as regional tensions continue to escalate.

The message was delivered by Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir during a high-level meeting with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday evening.

Humayun Kabir, acting as a special envoy for Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, handed over a personal letter addressed to UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

In the letter, the Prime Minister expressed his deep concern over recent attacks that have resulted in loss of life and property damage, while offering sincere appreciation for the UAE’s continued support in hosting and ensuring the safety of a large Bangladeshi expatriate community.

During the discussions, the UAE Foreign Minister expressed his government’s gratitude for Bangladesh’s support and offered condolences for the deaths of two Bangladeshi expatriates killed in recent regional incidents.

He reaffirmed the UAE's unwavering commitment to the safety of all residents, regardless of their nationality.

For his part, Adviser Humayun Kabir commended the UAE leadership for their restraint and emphasized that Bangladesh views dialogue and diplomatic means as the essential tools for resolving regional disputes.

He reiterated that Bangladesh stands ready to extend support if required and extended a formal invitation to the UAE President to visit Bangladesh in the near future.

The meeting also served as a platform to review the broader bilateral relationship, with both sides describing the ties as exceptionally strong.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation across various sectors of mutual interest.

Humayun Kabir’s visit to Abu Dhabi is part of a larger diplomatic mission to several Gulf countries, where he is serving as the Prime Minister’s special envoy to strengthen engagement and convey strategic messages to regional leaders during this period of instability.
