Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held a high-level meeting at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Monday morning to address the status of closed factories operating under the Ministry of Textiles and Jute.
The session focused on identifying strategic pathways to revitalize these dormant industrial units and reintegrate them into the national economy.
According to the Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary, Atiqur Rahman Rumon, the discussions centered on overcoming operational hurdles and implementing effective frameworks for reopening the shuttered plants.
The initiative is seen as a move to boost industrial productivity and create employment opportunities within the textile and jute sectors.
The meeting was attended by key government figures, including Textiles and Jute Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, Political and Industrial Affairs Adviser Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, and State Minister for Textiles and Jute Shariful Alam.
Also in attendance was BIDA Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashiq Mahmud Bin Harun, highlighting the government’s focus on attracting investment to modernize and sustain these traditional industrial sectors.
