Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman on Friday said that Bangladesh remains steadfastly committed to its global responsibilities, emphasizing that the nation will continue to play its role in maintaining peace and stability across the world.

He made the statements during a joint press briefing alongside the visiting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Hakan Fidan, at a hotel in the capital following a comprehensive bilateral meeting.

The high-level discussions touched upon several critical matters, including the ongoing Rohingya humanitarian crisis, a potential Free Trade Agreement (FTA), and a Preferential Trade Arrangement (PTA).

Aiming to boost bilateral trade and commercial ties, Bangladesh also offered a dedicated special economic zone exclusively for Turkish investment.

During the joint briefing, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that they are continuing their efforts to strengthen the relationship with Bangladesh and take it to new heights.

He explicitly extended Turkey's support to Bangladesh to ensure the voluntary and dignified repatriation of the Rohingyas to their homeland.

Commending Dhaka's prolonged humanitarian response, Hakan Fidan noted that Bangladesh has demonstrated a historical sacrifice, expressing deep appreciation for its extensive efforts to address the Rohingya issue.

The Turkish foreign minister is currently in Dhaka on a two-day official visit following an invitation from his Bangladeshi counterpart.

As part of his ongoing itinerary, he is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and travel to Cox’s Bazar to inspect the Rohingya refugee camps.

While visiting the camps, Hakan Fidan will inspect various humanitarian assistance projects currently being carried out by several Turkish state and non-profit entities, including the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the Turkish Red Crescent, the Turkish Diyanet Foundation, and Turkey's Health Ministry.

He will also personally visit and review the operations of the Turkish Field Hospital currently operating inside the refugee camps.
