Prime Minister Tarique Rahman departed Beijing for Dhaka on Friday afternoon, successfully concluding his four-day official visit to China, which was undertaken at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Premier Li Qiang.

According to the Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary, Atikur Rahman Ruman, a China Southern Airlines flight carrying the Prime Minister, his wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman and their entourage departed from Beijing Daxing International Airport at 5:15 pm local time.

The Prime Minister’s final day in the Chinese capital was marked by significant diplomatic activity. In the morning, he held a high-level meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People.

Prior to this, Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of China, called on the Prime Minister at the same venue.

The Prime Minister had arrived at the Great Hall at approximately 9:30 am, following a formal state tribute at Tiananmen Square.

Upon his arrival at the square at 9:10 am, a smartly turned-out contingent of the Chinese Armed Forces accorded him a state salute.

During the ceremony at the Monument to the People's Heroes, Tarique Rahman placed a special red-green wreath to honor the memory of the Chinese revolutionary heroes.

As the national anthems of the two countries were played and the bugle sounded the last post, the Prime Minister stood in solemn silence as a mark of profound respect.

Following these engagements, the Prime Minister visited the Museum of the Communist Party of China (CPC), which houses comprehensive, permanent exhibitions of the party's history.

Accompanied by Dr. Zubaida Rahman and his entourage, he toured the museum's galleries and experienced an immersive audio-visual coaster show.

At the conclusion of the tour, the Prime Minister signed the visitors' book.

This visit to Beijing represented the final leg of the Prime Minister’s maiden official overseas tour.

He began the journey on June 21 with a visit to Malaysia, before traveling to the Chinese city of Dalian on Monday night to attend the World Economic Forum's Summer Davos 2026.

After participating in various events there for two days, he arrived in Beijing on Wednesday afternoon to continue his official diplomatic programme.
