Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman said on Saturday that Bangladesh’s diplomatic ties with China have been elevated to the highest possible level of bilateral cooperation, characterized as a "Bangladesh-China community with a shared future."
Speaking at a media briefing regarding Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s recently concluded visits to Malaysia and China, the Foreign Minister stated, “This is the highest step in terms of China's bilateral engagement."
He further emphasized that the visual documentation of the Prime Minister's stay in both nations underscores the growing importance of Bangladesh, significantly strengthening Dhaka's strategic ties with both Kuala Lumpur and Beijing.
During the diplomatic mission, leaders from Bangladesh and China reached a consensus to build a "China-Bangladesh community with a shared future in the new era."
Highlighting the political dimension of this deepened relationship, Prime Minister's Adviser on Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir noted that the two sides signed a party-to-party Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a formal partnership focused on strengthening political cooperation.

Beyond the political sphere, the two nations agreed to expand collaboration in critical technical areas, including integrated water resources management, water resources planning, hydrological forecasting, flood prevention, disaster reduction river dredging, and the sharing of related technologies.
The briefing was attended by several high-ranking officials, including State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam, Prime Minister's Adviser on Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir, BIDA Executive Chairman Ashik Chowdhury, Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam, and other senior representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman officially returned to Dhaka on Friday evening, marking the successful conclusion of his maiden overseas tour since assuming office.
