The United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia have reasserted their dedication to assisting Rohingya refugees and their host communities in Bangladesh by expanding joint relief initiatives and bilateral humanitarian cooperation.

This renewed pledge followed the inaugural joint visit to Cox's Bazar by delegates from the British High Commission in Dhaka and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), who traveled to the region to evaluate ongoing aid operations funded by both nations.

A press release issued on Thursday by the British High Commission noted that the joint delegation interacted with humanitarian partners, local host community residents, and Rohingya refugees while inspecting active projects focused on food security, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services.

Through a coordinated effort, the two global partners are channeling USD 7.8 million via implementing agencies, which include the World Food Programme (WFP), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the Integrated Social Development Effort (ISDE) Bangladesh.

This financial package was originally made public in December 2025 during the UK-Saudi Arabia Strategic Aid Dialogue.

The collaborative trip reflects a growing humanitarian alliance between the UK and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, building upon a joint statement signed in London in December 2025 that pledged both nations to coordinated humanitarian interventions in Bangladesh and Yemen.

While on the ground, the delegation received direct feedback from community members and aid workers regarding how these initiatives are boosting living conditions, upgrading access to vital services, and fostering greater resilience across both refugee and local populations.

Expressing high regard for the collaboration with the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), KSrelief Assistant Supervisor General for Operations and Programs Eng.

Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baiz highlighted the broader impact of their work.

"We value our partnership with FCDO as we work together to continue empowering vulnerable communities. Our partnership with the UK enhances our ability to deliver life-saving support to Rohingya refugees and their hosts, reaffirming our shared dedication to alleviating suffering and fostering resilience through effective and compassionate humanitarian action," Al-Baiz stated.

Echoing these sentiments, British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke emphasized the pride the United Kingdom takes in teaming up with KSrelief to extend critical aid to displaced populations, host families, and other at-risk groups globally.

"The United Kingdom is proud to partner with KSrelief to deliver life-saving assistance for Rohingya refugees, host communities and other vulnerable populations around the world. This visit marks our deepening humanitarian partnership and our shared commitment to helping those in need," she remarked.
