Bangladesh has requested India's cooperation to ensure that no individual, including fugitive former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, uses Indian territory to issue political statements or undertake activities aimed at destabilizing Bangladesh, ahead of her reported public program on August 5.

Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser Humaiun Kobir delivered the message during a meeting with newly appointed Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi at the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon on Monday, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Humaiun Kobir emphasized that political actions of this nature could jeopardize the ongoing positive momentum in bilateral relations between the two neighboring nations.

In response, Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi assured that the matter would receive due consideration, necessary inquiries would be conducted, and appropriate efforts would be made regarding the issue.

The diplomatic outreach comes following reports in Indian media indicating that Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to make her first public appearance in India, precisely two years after leaving Bangladesh amid a massive student-led movement.

According to multiple media outlets, Sheikh Hasina is set to participate in a virtual event organized by the Foreign Correspondents' Club of South Asia in New Delhi.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Sheikh Hasina's planned event on August 5 featured prominently during the discussions.

Both sides highlighted the necessity of maintaining regular dialogue and constructive engagement, expressing confidence that long-term, sustainable solutions to all pending issues can be realized through mutual trust and open discussion.

The meeting covered a wide spectrum of existing bilateral ties and shared national interests. Both representatives expressed optimism about expanding and advancing bilateral relations founded on mutual respect, trust, and shared objectives.

According to a statement from the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, the conversation prioritized boosting people-centric cooperation for mutual benefit. Dinesh Trivedi reaffirmed India's commitment to working constructively with the government of Bangladesh to fulfill the developmental goals of citizens in both countries.
