United States Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen expressed great pleasure on Sunday during an official visit to the historic floating guava market and surrounding fruit orchards located at Bhimruli in Jhalakathi.

Joined by his wife, Deanne Dao, the diplomat navigated the local waterways via boat on Sunday morning to inspect Bhimruli's iconic floating fruit bazaar and tour nearby guava plantations.

Throughout the excursion, Christensen interacted with regional guava farmers and plantation managers, inquiring about various stages of cultivation, harvesting techniques, yield statistics, and distribution networks.

“It's great to be here at the floating markets, to experience this unique site in Bangladesh. It was a really fun experience out on the river. I enjoy getting to try the guavas, getting to talk to the sellers, getting to see how the guava is picked, and of course getting to sample some of the guava as well,” the ambassador remarked while addressing journalists following the river tour.

The floating guava hub at Bhimruli stands as a primary agri-tourism destination in Bangladesh’s southern belt, attracting thousands of international and local visitors each year during the peak rainy season.

According to local orchard operators, the visit by the US envoy created widespread excitement and optimism among guava cultivators across the region.
