US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen underscored the enduring importance of deepening bilateral ties through cultural and historical exchange as the US Embassy in Dhaka celebrates the landmark 'Freedom 250' initiative.

Marking the 250th anniversary of American independence, the Ambassador visited the 'American Fair' at Justice Shahabuddin Ahmed Park in Gulshan on Saturday, where he engaged with the public and highlighted the shared values that link the two nations.

"We want to share more of our history with Bangladesh and help build people-to-people understanding between the two countries," Ambassador Christensen told reporters. Reflecting on the significance of the ongoing festivities, he added, "We believe the story of America has inspired many across the world, including many here in Bangladesh."

The Ambassador described the current celebrations as a vibrant opportunity to foster mutual connection.

"Today is our real birthday. It's exciting to be here. We're having great celebrations across Bangladesh," he said, noting that the events—ranging from concerts to cultural exhibitions—are designed to bring a "taste of America" to local communities.

"We're also sharing history, sharing values, sharing ideals. So it's a really fantastic experience," he remarked.

The American Fair is a centerpiece of the US Embassy’s 'America Week 2026', a seven-day, multi-city program spanning Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, and Rajshahi.

The celebrations feature a wide array of signature events, most notably the performances by the US Army’s 25th Infantry Division Brass Band, which has been collaborating with local musicians, including the Bangladesh Air Force Orchestra, to showcase the universal language of music as a tool for diplomacy.
