Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, accompanied by his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman, on Tuesday attended a welcome breakfast hosted by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for global leaders and their spouses participating in the 81st UN General Assembly.

The breakfast took place at the North Delegates Lounge inside the UN Headquarters at 8 am (New York time).

At the commencement of the gathering, the Prime Minister and his spouse exchanged pleasantries with the UN Secretary-General and participated in a photo session alongside other attending world leaders.

The function signaled the start of the Prime Minister's extensive official program at the United Nations during his visit to New York for the UNGA session.

Following the reception, the Prime Minister is scheduled to attend the opening segment of the 81st UNGA session at the General Assembly Hall at 9 am local time, joining heads of state and government from across the globe.

As per his itinerary, PM Tarique Rahman will deliver his address to the general debate of the assembly on September 24.

Marking his inaugural address to the United Nations as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, he will deliver the speech in Bangla, adhering to the national tradition.

Alongside the primary assembly sessions, the Prime Minister is also slated to conduct a series of bilateral discussions and courtesy meetings with various heads of government and leaders of international organizations.
