Three specialized lorries transporting uranium fuel destined for the second unit of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant are currently en route to the project site in Pabna under heavy security coordinated by the Bangladesh Army.
The nuclear fuel convoy traversed the Bonpara bypass in Baraigram upazila at approximately 11:45 am.
To ensure unhindered passage, personnel from law enforcement agencies and intelligence services were strategically positioned at critical checkpoints along the highway as the uranium-laden vehicles traveled through the district.
The cargo was delivered via an aircraft carrying the uranium shipment, which touched down at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 11:45 pm on Friday.
Following the completion of mandatory clearance protocols at the airport, the fuel was transferred onto the specialized transport vehicles, which subsequently commenced their journey toward the Rooppur facility.
The flight bearing the uranium for the Rooppur project had originally been scheduled to land on September 24; however, it experienced delays after being denied transit access through Pakistani airspace.
