The suspension of flight operations at Saudi Arabian airports has left at least 8,381 passengers stranded across 61 canceled flights.

The affected services include 22 direct flights and 39 transit flights.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) disclosed this information in a press release on Monday (October 12).

The notification noted that these figures do not include passengers booked with Riyadh Air, as the airline has yet to provide its passenger counts. Passenger tallies will be updated once that data is received.

Among the 22 suspended direct flights are nine operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, seven by Riyadh Air, four by Saudia, and two by US-Bangla Airlines.

Meanwhile, the 39 suspended transit flights comprise 16 by IndiGo, nine by Emirates, five each by Qatar Airways and Flydubai, three by SalamAir, and one by EgyptAir.

Previously, CAAB reported that 5,418 passengers were affected by the suspension of 51 flights.

With the latest update, both the number of suspended flights and stranded passengers have increased significantly.

This situation arose following a series of attacks on airports in Saudi Arabia, which targeted key facilities including Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport.

The incidents prompted flight suspensions and tight restrictions across the kingdom.

In response, Biman Bangladesh Airlines announced the suspension of its Dhaka-Riyadh-Dhaka route until October 17.

Meanwhile, US-Bangla Airlines has suspended all flights to Riyadh through October 21.
