The second shipment of additional uranium fuel for Unit 1 of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant has arrived in Ishwardi, Pabna, from Dhaka under tight security.

The uranium-carrying convoy entered the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant premises at 10:03 AM on Wednesday (October 21).

Earlier, at 4:56 AM, the convoy departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka for the plant in Ishwardi.

The uranium convoy was transported by road to Rooppur under heavy security provided by the Army, Special Security Force (SSF/SRB), Police, and other law enforcement agencies.

Extensive security measures were implemented along the entire route from Dhaka to Rooppur by law enforcement personnel of the respective districts, during which all vehicular movement and pedestrian access were controlled.

Multiple sources from the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant and the Ministry of Science and Technology confirmed the matter.

However, official statements could not be obtained from officials of the concerned departments upon contact. Consequently, details regarding when or on which date the shipment arrived in Dhaka from Russia could not be ascertained.

It is worth noting that on October 3, the first shipment of additional uranium fuel for Unit 1 was similarly transported from Dhaka to the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant under strict security.

Gradually, seven shipments for the second unit of the nuclear power plant are scheduled to arrive at Rooppur within this year.
