The decision to form a minimum wage board for garment workers will be taken this coming Sunday (November 1), Minister for Labor and Employment Ariful Haque Chowdhury has announced.

He made the statement at a press conference on Friday night (October 30) following a meeting with garment labor leaders.

The minister said, "We had a very fruitful discussion with the labor leaders. Insha’Allah, the process of forming the minimum wage board for garment workers will begin on Sunday morning."

"Regarding the statements made by the labor leaders, I believe there are certainly things we must address. Based on discussions with them, the legitimate demands of the workers will be implemented step by step, Insha’Allah," he added.

He further stated, "Just as we must safeguard our industrial factories, we must also ensure that the rightful demands of the workers are met. Since the BNP government under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman took office, we have already been able to fulfill legitimate demands across various levels. We hope that from Sunday onwards, Insha’Allah, the long-awaited demands of the workers will be granted."
