Jamuna group chairman Nurul Islam Babul died after being infected with coronavirus. He breathed his last at the Ever Care Hospital (former Apollo Hospital) on Monday. He was 74. He left behind his wife, a son, three daughters and a number of well wishers.

Babul was also chairman of Daily Jugantor and Jamuna Television. After 4 pm his death news was telecasted in these media and other media of the country.

On June 14 Nurul Islam Babul was tested positive for coronavirus. He was admitted to the hospital on that day. Physicians said that his kidneys were severely affected. A 10-member medical board was formed led by Ever Care physician Brigadier General (retd) Mahbub. Besides 4 expert physicians from China and two expert physicians from Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore gave suggestions through teleconference.
