A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on former Gulshan Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mazharul Islam and his wife, Laila Khan, in connection with graft allegations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib issued the order on February 10 following a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). The plea was filed by ACC Assistant Director Bishan Ghosh.
According to the ACC, an investigation is underway regarding allegations that Mazharul Islam amassed illegal wealth and transferred a significant sum to his wife's bank accounts. The agency also claimed the couple was attempting to flee the country.
Mazharul Islam was previously arrested on September 17 from the APBn & Specialized Training Center (ASTC) in Khagrachari and remains in custody.
