After the Eid holiday, metro rail services in Dhaka and intercity trains across the country resumed operations.
On Tuesday morning, both public transport services restarted as per their regular schedules.
According to reports, the first metro rail trip departed from Uttara North Station towards Motijheel at 7:10 am, while the first train from Motijheel left for Uttara North at 7:30 am.
Similarly, the first intercity train after Eid, Parjotok Express, departed from Dhaka Railway Station for Cox’s Bazar at 6:15 am.
Earlier, the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) announced on its verified Facebook page that metro rail services would be suspended only on Eid day but would operate as usual on other days.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Railway Director General Md. Afzal Hossain stated in a pre-Eid inter-ministerial meeting that intercity train services nationwide would be halted on Eid day. He also mentioned that all scheduled train "day-offs" would be canceled before Eid and reinstated afterward.
