
Commuters using Dhaka’s popular Metro Rail will no longer need to stand in long queues at stations to top up their permanent travel cards. Starting today, passengers can easily recharge their cards from the comfort of their homes using online banking services.
The new online recharge facility is set to be officially inaugurated today, Tuesday (November 25), at 10:45 AM at the Agargaon Metro Station in the capital.
Sheikh Moinuddin, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser attached to the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, will attend the launching ceremony as the chief guest.
The event will be presided over by Neelima Akhter, Executive Director of the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA).
Additionally, Dr. Mohammad Ziaul Haque, Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Division, and Faruque Ahmed, Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), will be present as special guests.
Following the inauguration, passengers will be able to recharge their cards using bank credit cards, as well as mobile financial services such as bKash, Nagad, Rocket, and various other online banking platforms.
