Chief Advisor and Chairman of the National Consensus Commission, Professor Muhammad Yunus, has urged for the swift progress of reform activities, targeting the national elections between December and June 2026.
He made this call during a meeting with two members of the National Consensus Commission at Jamuna on Saturday (April 12) afternoon.
Professor Ali Riaz, Vice-Chairman of the National Consensus Commission, and member Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar attended the meeting. Monir Haider, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor (Consensus Building), was also present.
During the meeting, Ali Riaz and Badiul Alam Majumdar briefed the Commission Chairman on the progress of the National Consensus Commission's activities. They informed that discussions with various political parties regarding the recommendations of the reform commissions are ongoing.
As of Saturday, discussions with a total of eight parties have been completed. The schedule for discussions with the BNP is set for next Thursday.
They also mentioned that various programs have been undertaken to gauge public opinion on reform activities and to raise public awareness about them.
At this time, Commission Chairman and Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus urged to expedite the overall reform process, including discussions with political parties, with the goal of holding national elections between December and June 2026.
