The Road Transport and Highways Division has issued a formal notification imposing nationwide restrictions on vehicle movement in view of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and the Referendum. The directive was issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges on Sunday (February 1).

According to the notification, the Election Commission has prohibited the movement of taxi cabs, pickups, microbuses, and trucks for 24 hours, starting from midnight on February 11 until midnight on February 12.

Furthermore, a stricter ban has been placed on motorcycles, which will be prohibited from the roads for 72 hours—starting from midnight on February 10 until midnight on February 13.

The government stated these measures are essential to ensure a peaceful and orderly environment for the dual voting process scheduled for February 12, 2026.
