In preparation for the 13th National Parliamentary Election and Referendum scheduled for February 12, more than 90% of polling stations across 299 constituencies have been brought under CCTV surveillance.
Additionally, 958,000 personnel from various law enforcement agencies have been deployed to maintain order.
Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd.) Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah shared these updates during a press briefing held Tuesday (February 10) at the Election Building in Agargaon, Dhaka.
Massive Security Deployment
The Commissioner stated that a total of 958,000 security personnel have been deployed nationwide to ensure a fair and peaceful environment. Supporting the security forces on the ground are 2,098 Executive Magistrates and 657 Judicial Magistrates.

"Forces and capabilities on such a massive scale have never before been deployed in Bangladesh," the Commissioner noted. "There is no reason to be anxious about unpleasant situations surrounding the election. Nevertheless, we are fully prepared to tackle any isolated incidents should they occur."

Illegal Arms Recovery
To maintain a stable electoral environment, law enforcement agencies have conducted drives since December 13, resulting in the recovery of 850 firearms.
The EC believes a significant portion of these weapons was gathered with the intent of committing sabotage during the election.
Reassuring the public, the Commissioner emphasized that the sheer scale of preparations should deter any disruptions, and the commission remains vigilant and ready to respond to any emergencies.
