Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is set to deliver his first televised address to the nation this evening since the formation of the new government.

According to a government press release, the speech will be broadcast live at 7:00 PM on Wednesday (February 18) via state-run media outlets. The address will be aired simultaneously on Bangladesh Television (BTV), Bangladesh Betar, all private television channels, and various social media platforms.

A Day of Tribute
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman began his official duties today at 11:00 AM by paying his respects to the martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War at the National Martyrs' Memorial in Savar. After laying a wreath, he stood in solemn silence for one minute. He later returned to the altar with his cabinet members to pay a collective floral tribute.

At approximately 12:00 PM, the Prime Minister visited the graves of the late President Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia to offer prayers and pay his respects, accompanied once again by his cabinet.

First Day at the Secretariat
Following the tributes, the Prime Minister moved to the Secretariat to begin his official administrative functions. His schedule for the afternoon includes:

12:30 PM: An introductory meeting and brief exchange of views with officials from the Cabinet Division at Building No. 1.

3:00 PM: A special meeting with the new cabinet members, marking the first policy-making session of the new administration.

4:00 PM: An exchange of views with the secretaries of various government ministries.

The Cabinet Building and surrounding departments have been decorated to mark the Prime Minister's arrival. Security has been significantly bolstered across key locations, with police, RAB, and army personnel conducting searches and maintaining a strict vigil since the morning.

Tarique Rahman, Chairman of the BNP, was sworn in as Prime Minister yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, February 17) during a ceremony held at the South Plaza of the Parliament Building.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath to the Prime Minister and 49 other cabinet members, including ministers and state ministers.
