Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid profound respect to the martyrs of the Great Language Movement in the early hours of Saturday (February 21). He honored the language heroes by placing a floral wreath at the Central Shaheed Minar at the stroke of midnight.

After laying the wreath, the Prime Minister stood in solemn silence for a brief period as a mark of respect to the martyrs. He then took part in special prayers (doa and munajat) seeking eternal peace for their departed souls.

Following the state tribute, Tarique Rahman placed a second wreath on behalf of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), accompanied by ministers and ministers of state.

In a third tribute, the Prime Minister honored the language martyrs on behalf of the late former President Ziaur Rahman and the late former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, joined by members of his family. His wife, Zubaida Rahman, and daughter, Zaima Rahman, were present during the ceremony.

Earlier, President Mohammed Shahabuddin paid his respects by placing a wreath at the Central Shaheed Minar during the first hour of Ekushey. After his tribute, the President also observed a moment of silence and participated in prayers.
